Charles Montgomery, 75, passed away at home June 12, 2017 following a brief battle with ALS. He was born April 3, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, moving to Kansas City, MO. soon after, the son of Charlie and Emma Lou (Grover) Montgomery.

Charles graduated from North Kansas City High School and then from Central Tech. He served in the US Air Force for four years, earning the rank of Sergeant and working in an aircraft maintenance squadron in Vietnam and state side.

Charles married Judy Prigel on January 2, 1970 at Paseo Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO. They shared 47 years of marriage together, and raised four children.

Charles worked for 45 years as a computer service engineer. His expertise at repair extended from computers to mechanics to home maintenance. Even after retirement, he kept busy helping family fix up cars and houses. Charles also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren: attending baseball games and school events, being there to help get grandchildren off to school or welcome them home at the end of the day.

Charles was a great storyteller. He loved sharing stories about experiences at work or with family. He also enjoyed traveling and went on many adventures with his wife and family. He particularly liked traveling to the beach or mountains.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Judy Montgomery, four children: Mark Montgomery (Nancy), Debbie Montgomery (Jean Paul Bovee), Paul Montgomery, and Jill Anast (Reid), and seven grandchildren, Madison, Julia, Luke, Brett, Lucy, Grace, and Samuel.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff of Kansas City Hospice for their care of Charles these last few months. Shirley, Brenda, Gloria, Gina, and Mark were greatly appreciated.

Donations may be made in Charles’ honor to Easter Seals Midwest or Kansas City Hospice.
